Creating Valuable Relationships with Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Providers: A Multiple-Case Study

Background: Logistics service outsourcing in recent years has influenced the evolution of third-party logistics (3PL) providers across globe. The study explored evolving services 3PLs and relational factors that influence relationship with their customers. Methods: Qualitative research multiple case studies from four different industries were used. Semi-structured interviews adopted. Results: findings show aside warehousing customer expects to create value through more decision-making responsibilities, such as managing customer’s 3PLs, customised will make them competitive. Furthermore, results showed achieve performance, trust must be collaborative start, which increases information sharing leads an improved performance. Conclusions: Consistent performance commitments both partners. Implications, limitations future suggestions are provided.
